If there’s one thing that drives my work as an interior design photographer, it’s my deep curiosity. I’ve always been fascinated by how things are made and the creative processes behind them. Whether it’s understanding the craftsmanship of a unique piece of furniture or discovering how designers translate their vision into a physical space, I love learning what goes on behind the scenes. This curiosity is what keeps me engaged and constantly learning, and it’s why I approach every project—whether it’s in San Francisco, Los Angeles, or beyond—with fresh eyes and a desire to dig deeper.
Recently, I took a trip to LA with a long-time client to capture some behind-the-scenes content and scout a home that we’re planning to photograph in the spring. It was a chance to explore the LA Design Center and a few nearby home furnishing boutiques, where designers go to source their pieces. For me, these moments are golden. There’s something about getting to see where a designer’s ideas come to life—being able to touch the fabrics, feel the textures, and understand the journey from concept to reality—that fuels my passion for architectural and interior design photography.
Walking through the design center with my client, I got a firsthand look at her creative process. It’s not just about finding a pretty piece for a room; it’s about curating an experience for her clients, solving problems, and bringing a vision to life. As a photographer, being part of this process helps me understand how to capture the final project in a way that tells the whole story, not just the end result.
Trips like this are a reminder of why I love what I do. Whether I’m photographing interiors in LA, SF, or anywhere else, I want to be part of the creative journey from the start. Understanding the thought process behind each choice—why a designer chooses a particular material, what inspires them, how they bring it all together—makes a huge difference in how I approach photographing the space. I’m not just there to take a picture; I’m there to capture the essence of their work.
So, if you’re in Los Angeles or the San Francisco Bay Area, and you’re looking for an interior design photographer or architectural photographer who’s as invested in the creative process as you are, know that I’m here for more than just shoot day. From scouting trips to capturing the final result, I’m dedicated to telling the full story of your project.
Until next time!
